What is Kratos

Kratos is a dual-rail power filtering platform developed to provide a large local energy reserve and a low-impedance supply path for audio electronics. Its electrical architecture is centered on a high-density parallel capacitor array, intended to reduce supply impedance and improve current delivery consistency under dynamic load conditions.

The board integrates 192 capacitors for a total on-board capacitance of 19,200 uF. With this parallel arrangement, the specified resulting ESR is 2 mOhm, while capacitor voltage loss is 0.5%. In practical terms, the design focus is on lowering resistive losses and maintaining a more stable energy reservoir where current demand changes quickly.

Kratos is specified for dual-voltage operation and accepts up to +35, 0, -35 Vac or +50, 0, -50 Vdc. The rectification stage is rated for 4 A continuous current and 80 A pulsed non-repetitive current, allowing the board to tolerate short-duration peak demand conditions that are common in power-supply environments.

The design was also tested up to 100 kHz, indicating that the filtering network was evaluated beyond the audio band itself. Combined with the large capacitor bank and low ESR target, this makes Kratos a board aimed at noise reduction, supply stiffening, and improved electrical stability rather than voltage regulation.

Physically, the board measures 100 mm x 200 mm. The result is a supply-side platform intended for systems where power cleanliness, low series resistance, and high local capacitance matter more than compact size alone.
